Details

Standard 62.1-2007 requires all airstream surfaces in a HVAC system, except sheet metal and fasteners surfaces, be resistant to mold growth and erosion. The course explains the management of HVAC systems in relation to unwanted entrainment and intrusions. It also describes design considerations that can prevent microbial growth. At the completion of this course, you will be able to: Explain why HVAC air stream surfaces should be resistant to microbial growth and erosion; Explain how to manage moisture entrainment and intrusion into an HVAC system from exterior environmental events, to prevent microbial growth; Describe methods of preventing birds from entering and nesting within an HVAC system; Explain how to configure particulate filters within a HVAC system to prevent microbial growth; Describe how to configure a dehumidification system that meets Standard 62.1-2007; Design a HVAC system that includes access for maintenance and cleaning that meets Standard 62.1-2007; List the requirements of humidification systems that meet Standard 62.1-2007; Describe the impacts of building envelope design and interior surface choices on the potential for microbial growth; Describe the impact of building enveloper and cold surface(s) on moisture. (I-P) 2.4 PDHs. This course is approved by AIA. It can be subscribed to independently, as a part of the Standard 62.1: Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality Course Package, or Standards eLibrary.
