Details
This course covers basic refrigeration principles as they apply to commercial and industrial compressors. Topics covered include how to calculate coefficient of performance (COP) and determining compressor horsepower by plotting system conditions on the appropriate refrigerant P-H (Pressure Enthalpy) diagram. The course concludes by addressing simple key performance indicators (KPIs) that can help diagnose and improve refrigeration compressor operating efficiencies.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Apply the coefficient of performance (COP) to an operating compressor
- Calculate horsepower and compare it between an ideal isentropic compressor and an actual real-world compressor
- Plot the overall system performance characteristics of a refrigeration system on the P-H diagram of an ideal and actual compressor
- Identify refrigeration system key performance indicators (KPIs)
This course can be subscribed to independently, as a part of the AC and Refrigeration Principles (I-P) Course Package, or Fundamentals eLibrary.
