This course discusses the different ways in which the various LEED credits affect the HVAC engineer and how the engineer can best respond to the opportunities presented by the use of the LEED system on projects. Upon completion of this course you will understand: The background and purpose of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED programs; The five main program areas that LEED summarizes; The key points in each program area, particularly as they apply to ASHRAE members. You will also be able to: Discuss the: Various EA credits; EA Credit 4's attempts to eliminate use of environmentally hazardous refrigerants; How indoor environmental quality affects MEP design; How indoor environmental quality affects MEP design. Explain the impact of commissioning on a building operation; List the prerequisites of indoor environmental quality; Explain the guidelines and standards that need to be followed; Calculate Steady-State CO2 concentrations.
