Details

This course presents methods to estimate and calculate typical building electrical loads, preliminary distribution of power, and ASHRAE and EPA energy-efficient design guidelines. The course also introduces single line diagrams, and describes conductor, conduit, and equipment selection and sizing. The importance of fault current analysis is featured alongside explanations of data communications and uninterruptible power supply systems. Project coordination and design procedures are also highlighted.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • List the load estimation objectives
  • Explain the different electrical power distribution systems, load calculations, energy-efficient designs, and The team coordination that exists during electrical design implementation
  • Overview the procedure to review and revise designs
  • Describe power distribution systems, including the advantages of fully-rated and series-rated over current protection systems
  • Identify the symbols used in electrical drawings
  • Read single-line and wiring diagrams
  • Describe the various sources of electrical power, the parameters used in selecting the correct size of conductors, the parameters used for equipment sizing, faults, and the provisions for special systems in electrical systems design.
This course is approved by AIA. It can be subscribed to independently, as a part of the Electrical System Design Course Package, or HVAC Systems eLibrary. (I-P), 1.5 PDHs.
