Many states and jurisdictions are adopting newer editions of Standard 90.1. The federal government has recently changed from 90.1-2013 to 90.1-2019. This course presents the new requirements of the 2016, 2019, and 2022 editions. Each major change is explained and the year of the change noted. The course is designed to minimize the effort required for a current 90.1 user to transition to a new code adoption.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

• Compare the changes in energy savings and performance targets across ASHRAE 90.1 editions from 2016 to 2022, including the implications of RP-1651 and the pathway to net-zero goals.
• Differentiate between the major compliance pathways (Prescriptive, Performance via Appendix G, and TSPR) and identify when each method is applicable.
• Evaluate the technical updates to HVAC, envelope, and lighting systems in ASHRAE 90.1-2016 and 90.1-2019, including new requirements for verification, commissioning, and system efficiency.
• Apply Appendix G modeling requirements to calculate compliance using the Performance Cost Index Target (PCIt) and Building Performance Factors (BPFs) for different building types.
