This course covers a major upgrade to the Standards envelop section. The addition of requirements for controlling thermal bridging will enhance the energy performance of the envelope. This course will explain thermal bridging and how to comply with the new requirements of the standard to reduce or eliminate thermal bridging in the building envelope.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify key components of the building envelope and the types of thermal bridges addressed in the Standard 90.1-2022, Section 5.
- Explain the general requirements for insulation, air barriers, and air leakage control.
- Determine the appropriate insulation values for roofs, walls, and floors based on building type and climate zone.
- Apply insulation and envelope requirements from Section 5 to basic compliance decisions.
