Details
ASHRAE 90.1 made a significant change in 2016 by permanently requiring the Appendix G baseline building to meet the 2004 standard. A set of multipliers, known as Building Performance Factors, were added to Section 4 of the compliance section. These multipliers are used with the proposed building, which is generated according to the current standard requirements and Appendix G rules. The multipliers are updated in each edition of the standard to reflect the added energy savings in the code cycle. This course will demystify how to build models based on different requirements and compare them for compliance and energy savings.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the key updates in ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2022 related to the 2004 building model
- Explain the role of multipliers in the energy modeling process according to the 2004 baseline model
- Describe the specific changes made to the multipliers used in the 2022 version of Appendix G
- Interpret the impact of the updated multipliers on energy modeling and building performance
