The course covers the major equipment that comprise central plants. Topics include equipment sizing, plant configurations, efficiency impacts, and metrics, among others. The course identifies how the individual components work, and how they operate together as a central plant. (SI), 2.0 PDHs.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Understand the basic components and purpose of a central plant.
- Evaluate the benefits and drawbacks to central and local building plants
- Understand the following for boilers, chillers, and cooling towers:
- Role of each system and component
- General sizing criteria
- Interaction with other systems
- Gain a working knowledge of the interactions between equipment types
