Standard 90.1 has become the technical basis for meeting the energy efficiency requirements that must be achieved to obtain LEED certification for a commercial building or other facilities. The 2010 version marks a major change to the Standard with a goal of saving 30% more energy than the 2004 version. This course presents an overview of Standard 90.1 and then explains Appendix G, which is an informative appendix in the Standard. Appendix G provides specific guidance on the rules and procedures needed to simulate building energy usage when the objective is to substantially exceed the requirements of the Standard. Appendix G is especially useful for energy simulations connected with LEED credits and with U.S. energy tax credits.
